The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, signed on February 2, 1848, ended the Mexican-American War and gave the U.S undisputed control of Texas as well as California, Nevada, Utah, and parts of Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, and Wyoming. In return, Mexico received $18,250,000, the equivalent of $627,500,000 in mid-2000s dollars.
