Since its simple San Miguel Newspaper beginnings in 1975, Atención was one of the more sought-after sources of information and news about San Miguel de Allende and how to live here. Its mission over the years has been to serve as a communication bridge between Mexican and international residents, and more recently to inform tourists of local news and events. Published by the Biblioteca Pública.
The newspaper grew with the town, documenting San Miguel de Allende's rise from a small, provincial town to a cosmopolitan city that embraces people from many nationalities.
The first issue was published Friday, May 30, 1975, as a free paper called This Week in San Miguel. The paper consisted of four pages in English and four pages in Spanish, called Esta Semana en San Miguel.
